Thank You!

A colossal thank you for welcoming our latest elemental phenomenon into the mix, the Velgerian! This particular figure has been in development for over a decade, if you can believe it. However, it has gained greater prominence in the past three years. I still recall the internal decision between Geodraxus or the Velgerian for our initial pvc figure, as if it were yesterday. The Velgerian still needed some time to bake, however...

This project has many people to thank for its realization, as anything nowadays is rarely done alone. I first want to thank the great Anthony Coffey for his sculpting contributions to this figure. Anthony is a truly talented and inspiring individual, who has had his hands on a multitude of Glyos projects over the years. Working with Anthony last year really helped me get to know him and his approach to work. He took the Velgerian to places we wanted to see with masterful skill. My deepest gratitude goes out to him!

Another significant acknowledgement is extended to Matt for his tireless efforts and invaluable guidance regarding the Velgerian. Matt and I spent countless hours drawing back and forth among a litany of behind-the-scenes logistics, design changes, and production planning. The Velgerian shares a true collaborative nature with Matt, as his DNA is all over this figure. Over the coming months, I plan to highlight a lot of the stages this figure took, as well as old drawings and content. It's fun to see the lifespan of these projects! Thanks brother!

I also would like to thank my wife, Sydney, for her support throughout these launches. She is really an all-star when it comes to color (for which I cannot see correctly). The process of editing these photographs to achieve the utmost accuracy would not have been feasible without her assistance. She is also present alongside me in the process of packing all the orders, and her involvement in the process over the past few years has been truly instrumental.

Finally, and most importantly, thank you for supporting Spaced Out Design. Every order that rolls through here, every comment that is posted, etc., we see and are humbled by it. It was always a dream to make a figure in production, and it's crazy to think our second figure has just debuted. I will continue to explore with you the strangeness of my world and invite everyone to take part in it together.

This is just the start for the Velgerian. We have a lot of things in the works for this guy, and we can't wait to share them with you! Keep an eye out for more production fun as well as some curiosities coming up!

Thank you again for a strong rollout; we will be finding out more about the Velgerians very soon!

Thank You!

Thank you so much for the strong response to the third official wave of Geo in pvc! It is crazy to think we have already rolled out 3 full production waves. It seems like just yesterday I was anxiously awaiting the first sample of this guy from the factory, hah!

I want to give a huge thanks to our good friend Jason Ho for yet again providing us all with some stellar Prismirian art! Jason and I worked extensively on this one and I could not be happier with the results. Well done my friend! He was the one who actually sprung the idea of a cloak for Geo this round as we were fleshing everything out. Turns out a very modular one exists in the realm of Glyos, which leads me to my next thank you.

Big thanks to the Father of all of this, Matt "Go Hard" Doughty! Between all of the crazy projects he has going on day to day, he always takes the time to help me further and tighten the things we do around here. I am forever grateful for those non colorblind eyes of yours, hah! And for those of you who want a neat cloak for Geo, take a look at Matt's last wave of Renegades. Matt and Marcus have created a master level modular cape that has endless possibilities for our pvc companions.

Another thank you to my other brother Marcus for coming in at the zero hour to prepare the store and tighten up some photos. I wanted to be sure there was no hiccups like last time and he got us all squared away for launch night. Thank you brother for always having my back!

As of this post, all orders placed over the weekend have been shipped. They should be finding their way to your mailboxes this week! I can not wait to see what you guys think and make with the latest wave. As of right now, the next wave is looking like October and should bring us some neat surprises.

Thank you all again for the support, it means the world to me!

Thank You!

I want to give everyone a Prismiria sized thank you for making the second full production wave of Geodraxus spectacular! My wife Sydney and myself spent all weekend post launch crunching orders and getting everything ready to see the post Monday. We both sincerely appreciate all the support we have been receiving from you all, it means the world to us!  As of this post, all orders since the launch have been packed and shipped. You should be seeing them later this week.

This wave in particular is very special to me as it serves as the first time this new "flecking" effect has been captured in PVC form outside of translucent figures with glitter in the Glyos world. Since the inception of Geo, I always imagined a defined rock type version of him that looks just like the Grannikor figure. I imagine the Prismirian base form would be something close to granite/stone. Over time they can augment themselves with the various crystals that grow within Prismiria to give them special powers and effects. Having the ability to produce these base versions of Geo was a great accomplishment and I couldn't be any happier with the results!

Luckily, Matt found himself in a target one day and spotted the Grey Gargoyle figure from Hasbro's Marvel Legends line. We would later submit this to our factory in an effort to try and replicate the PVC effect for this launch. Thank you Eagle Eye Doughty!

The next release is slated for late August - early September. We will be exploring a new part of Prismiria, so get ready to sift through some new dusty and uncharted lands!

Once again, thank you for the wonderful roll out! I am looking forward to seeing what you guys think of this latest wave once you get them in hand.

Thank You!

Thank you guys so much for an incredible first production launch! I am psyched to say that all orders from the launch shipped out this past Monday and should be arriving to you shortly. I am looking forward to you guys getting these figures in hand and seeing what you think of them. We still can not believe the turn out Friday night and how fast everything was vaporized from the shop! I am eternally grateful for being able to share my vision with all of you.

I have personally been waiting for this moment for the better part of 7 years. I will still pull Geo out of my pocket every so often and just marvel at how he shines in the light or how he feels in my hands. It has always been my hope that Geo would look and feel like a true gem with glass like surfaces and sharp edges. I believe we accomplished that, but I want you guys to be the judge! It has been an absolute blast re-working him from clay to now a full PVC figure.

I want to give a very special thank you to my brother Matt Doughty who has helped and guided me so much over the years. I can truly say I would not be here if it wasn't for all of his generosity and kindness. He has been an integral part of making Geodraxus a reality and I can not thank him enough! So many changes and iterations went into making this final figure. With over a decade of experience under his belt, I was lucky enough to have avoided so many trials and tribulations that go with making a production piece. Thanks Popes!

Moving forward, we are going to adjust the numbers and make it so Geo can get into more hands and accommodate peoples wants. This was good to see what people are feeling with this new figure (both positive and negative) and I think we have some fun things planned that you guys might dig.

Thank you guys again for a stellar intro! Lets keep it going!

Early Stages 2

During the production of the Mecha Treeborgs I started in on the Raptinok sculpt. Last year I was influenced by many different toy companies who happen to all be producing some sort of Dino toys. What really did it for me and pushed me to the Raptinoks was Imaginext's Dino Mech figure. It hit all the marks from the core sculpt down to the paint apps and removable armor. I could not stop marveling over this guy!

Above is a sketch study from Matt Doughty. After I started getting the design down and piecing together the figure, Matt helped me visualize a good stance and possible articulation for this guy. Something heroic yet menacing was the outcome of his study. As I have probably said before, almost every project goes back and forth between Matt and myself at one point or another. Whether its engineering, basic design principles, or general thoughts, Matt is there to help me make these toys even better than before. I am truly lucky to have him in my corner!

More photos on tap!

Thank You!

Wow! Thank you to everyone that made last Sunday nights launch one to remember! This was a very special one for me personally. I have been working on developing a new cast of characters for the Spaced Out universe as well as ushering in some old friends to keep things fresh and exciting. As I speak, more Raptinok/Tritanok figures are being made and more all new figures are seeing their last stages of prototyping. I can't thank you all enough for allowing me to share my vision and continue doing what I truly love! You guys are the absolute best!

What also made this launch a super special one, was the collaborative efforts of my brother, Boris Savic of Rocket North. Boris has so many talents and he offered up his extremely tight "free" time to bring Spaced Out's first comic "Mystery Of The Dalendure" to life. A huge thanks goes out to Boris for absolutely nailing the ideas of Velgeris and its inhabitants. Boris you are a creative machine and we love the comic!

I would also like to thank the Bearded Overseer, Matt, for his influence on all of these figures I create. Matt and his toy line continues to inspire me in so many ways and I am seriously lucky to have him in my corner. He also sat down with some of my GITD figures during a very busy month to snap some stellar glow shots for the launch. The Raptinok in particular is an original design that Matt and myself went back and forth on for months when I decided to make the toy. I was very inspired by so many things in 2015 that led me to this Mechanical Dino that I will later explore here on the blog. For now, a big thanks to the big man for everything he does for all of us!

Another tall thanks to the Bit Man, Marcus! June has been super busy for everyone especially this lad. He managed to pull the entire comic together for the launch and also do some insane rollover shots with Matt's glow photos. Marcus has always been the reason everything runs smoothly and is visually sound and I can't thank him enough. You are the best brojack!

As far as shipping goes, the lions share of orders will be seeing the postman this afternoon and people should be receiving shipping confirmations soon if they have not already.

Thank you once again to the great people who support this wild adventure of mine, you guys make each release increasingly fun!

Happy 8th Anniversary Glyos!

Today is a very special day. Today marks the eighth year of the Glyos System Series being manufactured! Its such a great thing seeing my favorite independent toy line surviving and growing each and every year. I have had the ultimate privilege to play a small component to the shipping process over there the past few years as well as collaborating with my best friend on multiple toy endeavors. It is this toy line, and this friendship that has brought me to where I am the happiest and most creative! For that I will always be thankful.

Its my personal hope that Glyos continues venturing down fun roads exploring all there is in the Glyos universe.

The special anniversary sale starts Tonight, July 21st at 9:30 EST in the Glyos shop! Certainly one of my favorite waves so far!

Here is to Eight great years buddy, and many more to come!

THANK YOU !!!

Thank you to everyone who came out for the release last night! Words can not convey my extreme gratitude towards each person who came by the store during last nights release. Its the support and comments that truly made this sale something I will never forget. Being able to share my world with others has always been a dream of mine, and I am glad to have shared it with all of you last night!

A lot of time and energy went into the making of this launch. However, I can not take credit for the entirety of it. I want to give a HUGE thanks to my brother Marcus for putting an intense amount of time into the graphics and the overall design/layout of the new site. Him and I went back and forth with my designs and he turned them into a super refined reality. I am forever grateful for his efforts and for his insane attention to detail. Bravo Marcus, I couldn't of done this without you!

I also want to thank my other brother Matt for also helping me design my new logo and for being my absolute "rock" (pun intended!) throughout all my creative endeavors. He has always been my number one source of guidance in this realm and others. I could of never achieved this latest level of Geodraxus without him in my corner. Thank you Mr. Doughty for all that you are !

I want to thank Ron Daley for taking me under his wing and mentoring me over the past few months. He has also been a key factor in the new born Geodraxus figure. Without him, the figure would not be as mechanically sound as it is. He has taught me a lot in a short amount of time and I am super grateful for that! Ron truly cared about what I was creating and was instrumental in getting me where I needed to be. Cheers Ronny!

Lastly, I want to thank my better half Sydney for putting up with me as I stayed out all hours of the night casting these guys up! She has been an absolute trooper when it came to me putting the time in for this release and I am very thankful for her support and understanding! Again, thank you guys for making this release a great one!

Shipping starts late tonight/tomorrow!

Updates!

I have been working feverishly over at the shop the past few months, and I am in a good rhythm!  It has been amazing, yet challenging getting Geodraxus where he is currently. I couldn't of got here without the assistance of  Matt and Ron. These two masters have been instrumental in getting me where I need to be and I can not thank them enough!

I have been experimenting with a lot of different things ranging from new casting methods to new tooling. I am super happy to say that this new figure is 100% Glyos compatible and the joints are tight! I have been having a lot of fun swapping the parts around and plugging them on various Glyos compatible toy lines! I wanted to share a few photos of whats been brewing with old Geo, I hope everyone gets a kick out of it!

More pics and details will surface soon for this release. Get ready for some pictures from Prismiria, Geodraxus' home planet!

Mechanical Master

More stuff will be surfacing soon on Geo, but I wanted to share a few shop photos to show some of the processes that actually go into making a figure. When I cobbled my first Geodraxus together, I was so unbelievably happy that I had made a figure from top to bottom. I still remember the phone conversations with Matt and Jesse, I was practically in tears! This had become a moment I would not forget. I had been working on him non stop for months and really wanted something to bring to NYCC that year (2013). I did what I could to make him presentable, but I knew he needed a lot of work to get him where I wanted him to be. Flash forward to now.

Ron has taken Geodraxus from his past state, to a more mechanically sound one. I wanted a figure that could do more than the previous version, and Ron has been helping me do just that. We have been going back and forth on getting things "on point" and talking about the future of this figure. Its really awesome to watch him work out in the shop! The pictures display Ron getting parts all lined up and mechanically fit. He has a very accurate way of getting those "sweet spots". I couldn't have made it here without the help of my friends Ron and Matt. You guys are the best!

Most will notice a good deal of changes to Geodraxus. Elements of the sculpt have been pushed and pulled, and new line work and design changes have been implemented. This time, he will be debuting with a darker foe.

I really can't wait to get the molding done and hold a new version of an old friend !

Setting The Stage

Over the past few weeks I have been working on pushing Geodraxus to a whole new level. I really wanted to tighten him up and refine the figure to make it even better. Taking these steps has taught me a lot about the toy making world. It really pays off to spend extra time on an existing project!

On a related note, I have  the honor of working with Ron Daley. For those of you that doesn't know who Ron is, you can check some of the links below to see some of the projects he has worked on. A true toy genius!

Ron and I have teamed up and we are taking Geodraxus above and beyond in his new MK IV state. Geo has been in the works in his various forms for over a year now. Kind of crazy how time passes us by! Ill post an old drawing from winter of 2012 soon when I first started designing him.

So, now that the sculpts are where I want them, I will be making some master molds with Ron and incorporating the same joint system that Matt and him made many years ago. Thats right, just like the Rechlen and Aves figures and first Travelers. Bridging the gap between Matt's world and mine, has been something I have always looked forward to seeing.

More on all of this soon!

Thank You!

A massive thank you goes out to everyone who supported and participated in the Banimon Custom Corps. You guys are the best! Words can't express how lucky we truly are to have such incredible people support what we all love and create. To me, it still doesn't feel real. Ive spent the better part of the last four months on this project and it has been equal parts awesome and sad to see these guys go. This Custom Corps became integrated in my daily life and feels weird not coming home to a bunch of figures on my table!

A huge thanks goes out Matt and Jesse for their continued support in everything I have done. These dudes have been a huge flow of positive energy and weighed in heavily throughout this project. Another huge thanks to Boris Savic and Seth Longmire for all their input and support. It was fun being able to collaborate with such talented artists!

Banimon's 1st Custom Corps will be something I hope we all will remember for years to come, and we can't thank you guys enough for being apart of it!

First Instincts

With Gobon just having his most proper debut yet, this custom was best fitted for our next teaser. Personally, Gobon is my favorite character in terms of Matt and Michelle's universe. He was introduced to me in a way I can't really explain in just a small blurb. So prepare for a wave!

A number of years ago I met one of my favorite artists to date, Jesse Moore. At this time, I was heavy into toys of all sorts. The world of toys became something that I obsessed over constantly. It was a period of time where so many things were inspiring me. I was a sponge trying to absorb all I could, and was always hungry for more! Through my day job, I was able to stumble across the bearded mans path.

A few hours had passed and we were in a vortex of discussions about toys and art. During this event, I knew my life was about to drastically change. We are both nerds that have a lot in common, and immediately bonded. He later educated me about Glyos and Callgrim. I was so ecstatic to meet someone who created something I loved so much, and live down the street from me! I HAD to see more. Most of you who know Jesse, know that he is a very generous person. He had invited me to his home and showed me some of the toys that inspired him, along with toys he had made. I was marveling over his insane collection of vintage toys and current toys. My senses were totally nuked at this point, until I saw this meatball of a figure!

After almost going into shock over possibly one of the most overwhelming experiences, something caught my eye up in Jesse's toy lair. It was a roundish, Doctor Robotnik - looking toy that broke the tension I had been having in the plastic museum. For about a minute I felt tranquil and started inspecting the figure. Jesse then explained to me that the creator of this figure started the whole Glyos System Series of toys. When I picked up that Gobon, I had a feeling of joy that is unmatched to this day!

So, Gobon holds a very special place in my soul. He is still my one of my favorite toys to mess with. I love painting and customizing him, and was super excited to incorporate him in the Banimon Custom Corps. (Maybe even more than once...) Jesse opened my eyes to an incredible toy line and an equally incredible community, for this I give many thanks!

This particular version is piloted by a Banigoth. A very rustic version that is a death machine to all in his path! More details of the release and more photos soon!

Thank You!

Thank you to those who participated in last night's debut of the Spaced Out Design Shop! Last night's turnout exceeded my expectations, and your support is greatly appreciated! I just wanted you all to know you made the grand opening extra special for me, and forever have my thanks!

A good amount of time has been invested into this project. After sculpting the Glyos compatible Treeborg parts, Matt inspired me on possibly doing another figure to go with these guys. We fooled around with the parts and he had some great ideas for a new figure. The Saplorite figure was planted in my head after that session.

If you look closely on the Saplorite figure, you will find a part of the sculpt is very reminiscent of Matt's style with a rooted twist. I took one of the handcast parts he had modified and built around it. Can you find it?

A very special thanks goes out to Matt for all his help, advice, guidance and input throughout this project. He has a strong impact on the things I have created and I am eternally grateful for everything he has done!

Another special thanks goes out to Marcus for putting the site together. He spent a lot of time and effort making this thing right. Also, he brought a lot of originality to the site and I couldn't be happier with the result! Thanks Bince!

And last but certainly not least, a special thanks to Jesse for providing his awesome artwork for this launch. He has been a huge support in all my creativity and I am lucky to work with him on special projects. You're the best bro!

Well, that was a mouthful! In terms of last night's sale, the shipping process will begin next week. So be on the lookout for notices then. Thanks again to everyone who checked out the latest oddities, and there is much more to come in 2013!

New Tree Action

Been keeping super busy on the Treeborg project as of late. I had a sit down with the father of glyos and he gave me a great idea to go along with the Treeborgs. Its amazing how this insane man thinks! Anyway, the idea was to make a figure with some of the already existing Treeborg parts.

Some of the above pictures are WIP shots of the Treeborg soldier (working title) utilizing the foot part of the Treeborg( also Matts idea). I still need to add some armor and tree effects to him, but should make molding soon! I want to this release to have a few good elements to them, so lets hope this little guy makes the grade!

And finally, I got my hands on Matt Walkers new Monster Kolor resin dye! I must say, his products are top quality and nothing shy of spectacular. I can't say enough great stuff about this dye! And thanks for the extras Chooch!

Some more WIP shots and other swaz soon!

NYCC 2012

The con is almost among us! I have been working adamantly on a variety of hand cast things for this convention for almost a year it seems. Hah. Lets get started on the awesomeness!

First, I want to personally give a huge thanks to Jesse Moore of Rawshark! My bearded buddy did an incredible painting for the various characters I have created. I wanted to back these things with some killer artwork. We have been working on various project both independently and together for awhile and we take a very deep appreciation when it comes to art. Without getting into to much bro on bro love, I just want to say thanks for contributing a excellent piece of artwork to go along with these weirdos! You are the best!

Secondly, I want to thank Matt Doughty of Onell . This other bearded lunatic has been an important role in my creativity as well as Mr. Moore. Matt has been an incredible and influential friend to me. He has taken the time out to shoot some awesome pictures of this stuff for me and I couldn't be happier with the results. He has a way of capturing things(especially toys) that is unlike most. I need to get myself a digital camera and takes notes. Haha. Once again thanks to both of my friends for helping with some crucial swaz!

Alrighty, NYCC is tomorrow and Onell's booth is going to be jam packed with some super talented people! I am contributing some pretty cool handcast heads and attachments compatible with the glyos system, as well as some sweet customs. Here we have a handful of what will be available this weekend! I will be at the Onell Design Booth Thursday, Friday, and possibly at some other times. Come on down to Booth#3216 and check out what I have been working on! I cant wait to see everyone out there, Its going to be a blast!
